The day before regular classes start at the Asper School of Business, the Commerce Students’ Association holds an event called “Buddy Day” for all first-year Asper students. The student’s that attend are in various years of their university education, but Buddy Day marks the student’s first event as an official Asper student. How exciting! Buddy Day was a special event for us as well, because it was the first time the 2013-2014 ASBAA council had an opportunity to work together and share some laughs!
This year, the ASBAA council put on a game called, “are YOU smarter than an accounting student?”. We had council members at our booth and teams of two walking around quizzing students with trivia cards to see if they were really smarter than an accounting student. If the student won two out of three trivia questions against the council member, they won some delicious candy. There was a lot of laughs and everyone had a wicked time at this event. Unfortunately, we definitely gave away more candy than we thought we would! I think the ASBAA council took it easy on the students…. but you can’t deny that we have a bright group of students entering the Asper School of Business this year.
